WORK OBJECTIVE:
Works at various stations within the value stream performing a variety of tasks that range from general manual labor tasks to assembly to machine operation. Complies with all safety policies and procedures and reports concerns to manager. Uses 5S (Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize and Sustain) techniques to keep work area clean and supports lean objectives through participation. Team Leaders and Supervisors oversee, monitor, and coordinate team activities in the value stream.

Value Stream Associate I (A1)
· Moves inventory throughout plant as needed for the Value Stream
· Inspects part to ensure quality standards are met; rejects defects
· Loads and unloads manual and computer numeric controlled (CNC) machines; performs simple machining operations
· Uses simple gauges to inspect parts
· Completes required documents and records information as needed
· Participates in team activities and improvement projects
· Handles firearms in a safe manner at all times
· Complies with all safety rules and company rules; reports concerns to the leadership team
· May learn to read and interpret blueprints and process sheets
· May perform simple sub-assemblies
· May learn to polish parts/ firearms
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by some experience and/or training in firearms manufacturing (years of experience are dependent upon level of assignment); or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
· Knowledge of the materials, methods, and tools involved in the firearm manufacturing industry
· Skill in using training/instructional methods and procedures when learning new things
· Ability to work with hand tools and operate machines of varying complexity
· Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide
· Ability to organize work for timely completion
· Ability to follow oral and written instructions
· Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
· Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
· Ability to regularly attend work and arrive punctually for designated work schedule
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Depending on functional area of assignment, tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort usually involving some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (up to 20 pounds). May involve some climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, walking or standing. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station and extended periods of time standing and/or walking.
ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Tasks are regularly performed inside and/or outside with potential for exposure to adverse conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, fumes and/or poor ventilation, wetness, humidity, rain, temperature, and noise extremes, machinery and/or moving vehicles, vibrations, electric currents, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents, gases or chemicals, oils and other cutting fluids, violence and/or disease, or pathogenic substances.
SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Some tasks require manual dexterity, in addition to visual and hearing acuity. Some tasks may involve identifying and distinguishing colors.
